First, let me just say to all of my adoring bloggie buddies, I apologize.

I'm sorry that I have been such a sorry bloggie friend these past few months. I'm just having a hard time figuring out what to write about. I know that this is going to take some of you by complete surprise, but I feel it's time for me to make a complete confession....

I'm boring. (Crickets chirp). You heard me, I'm boring.

But let me tell you what I got to do yesterday.

I got to spend a bunch of hours with my sweet, sweet grandmother-in-law. She's the only grand I have left ( and unfortunately for her, she got me when her grandson decided to marry outside the community). Oh well, I just love her. She is 92 years old and has more information in her head than anyone I have ever known.

So, yesterday, while other members of the family were "cleaning" up her house (and by cleaning I mean dumping tons of old empty boxes and knick knacks out the back door into a trailer), I got to sit down with her and go through all of her music. She is a piano player (and she can actually still play). She had a ton of music and the shelf that it was on was falling down.

Now I love Mamoo (that's what we call her), I love her with a passion, BUT... her house is hazardous to her health and the health of all who enter. She is a pac....no, no, that's no the politically correct word. She is a collector of all items big and small. But, she is 92 and recently fell and hurt her back because she had so much stuff piled up everywhere.

So, while I distracted her with her music and singing songs out of her books, the others helped to make her environment just a little safer for her and her Fred (that's a whole other subject). There were about 12 of us in and out of her house all day long, did I fail to mention that her house is about 100 years old? I love her house. And now, I can see even more of it. I learned things about my father in law that I didn't know and some things about other members of my husbands family that I didn't know.

How precious to sit at an elder's feet and hear the wisdom of the ages come down.

Here is a picture that she lent me to scan. (And when I say lent, that's exactly what she meant.....I expect a call from her soon wanting to repossess it). This is her,in her glorious graduation gown in 1935. She made the gown herself out of pink organdy. (I told her she was "HOT") and she just laughed at me. I love Mamoo. Long may she live and be able to remember and love and laugh and tell us all stories we so love to hear.

My Grandma lived to be 100 and I loved her every single day of it! There is just something special about all that knowledge, wisdom, and love that they have to offer. I pray your Mamoo will hit a century too! (My grandma actually went to a baseball game and SAW Babe Ruth play!)

Your story of how you distracted and the others cleaned cracked me up! At least you got the fun job!

You have a whole 'nother blog post to tell us about Frank!!

Crickets often chirp in my life too...until my son catches them...then they are quiet as a mouse so he'll think they are dead and lets them go! ;)
