Let's get this week off and rolling on the right foot, shall we?

Okay, here's my question........ what would you do if you won the lottery?

Seriously, I'm talking about a lottery of regular proportion. Not the super huper duper powerball, just the measly little old three million dollar lottery?

I know what I'd do. I am so addicted to cookbooks......I buy me some serious cookbooks. And some fantastic new pots and pans to go with them. Now, isn't that the silliest old thing you ever heard? I can't help it. I am so totally addicted to cookbooks. I love to go on the internet and print out recipes that I will probably never get around to trying out. I'm not a particularly good cook, there is just something about those pictures and measurements that gets to me. (It's a sickness I know). I'd go see Paula Deen and Guy Fieri and visit some of the restaurants that they both love. Oh, yes I would. Maybe hire a tutor to take with me so my kiddies could see some of this great country of ours. But alas, that ain't gonna happen. But a girl can dream.

So, today, I am hosting a giveaway of one cookbook. It is called "Cakes Galore" by Valerie Barrett. I am hoping that there is someone out there who is just as addicted to cook books as I am.

This giveaway will end on April 11, 2010 at 10 pm. I will announce the randomly selected winner on Monday, April 12, 2010.

The only thing you have to do to win is leave a comment. And make sure that you leave your email address. Cause if I can't get hold of you, I will have to award the prize to the next randomly drawn name. You don't have to follow or make me god parent to your children, just leave me a comment on whether or not you have this sickness too. Good luck to all and have a blessed week.

When did we, as a nation, become.....

So intolerant of other people's points of view?
The arguing and name calling and viciousness of people amazes me.
You know what, my opinion is going to be diffferent from most everyone else's. Wanna know why? Cause we are all INDIVIDUALS.
Just because I don't agree with what you are saying, doesn't make me ignorant; it doesn't make me a bigot; it doesn't make me a cynic; it doesn't make me anything OTHER than different from you. Guess what? Get used to it. That is how we were created. DIFFERENTLY. How boring would the world be if we were all EXACTLY the same?
I don't agree with what is happening in our government, but I'm not gonna go out and riot because of it. I don't agree with what some radio talk show personalities are saying or believe in, but I'm not gonna tear anything up or hurt anyone. IT IS THEIR GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT TO.
BUT.........BUT..............BUT.............
IT is ALSO MY GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO BELIEVE WHAT I WANT TO BELIEVE AS WELL.
So, here's the crux people..............if you want to be able to believe and to say what you want without being harrassed or hurt or humiliated.........then YOU have to let me believe and say as I want to as well with harassing me or hurting me or humiliating me.
Just agree to disagree.
How do you all feel about this? Love to hear from you.

Today, over at Shannon's, her question is,
Would you rather live a week in the past or the future?
I think that I would rather live a week in the past. I have always felt like I was born in the wrong century. I've always been rather fond of the past.
The one BIG difference between the past and the future is: We know what happened in the past. Our future is not looking to rosy and I'm not the adventureous kind of gal that some of you are.
Not that I'm a big fan of outhouses or chamber pots or anything, but we don't know what contraptions there will be for facility use in the future.
If you wanna play Table Topic Tuesday, hop on over to Shannon's and let it ring. Y'all have a good day now.

Hey, Hey, whadda you say?

It's FRIDAY. That's right, ladies and gentleman. The end of the average work week.
Time to sleep in and get busy on that yard work or start basking on that tan...or whatever.
What are you gonna do this weekend? Love to hear about it.
Be blessed.

Okay, today's topic is: Do you find it harder to exercise or eat healthy?

Hmm...let's see. Considering that my eating habits are probably the worse in America, I'd say that would be it, HOWEVER.....(and this is my excuse people and I'm sticking with it) I know that I need to try to exercise, problem is, after about a minute, I'm so fricking exhausted that I cannot go on. Due to the RA in my lower spine, it is hard for me to stand for long periods of time, thus not aerobics or whatever. (What? Oh yeah, I guess I could do a stationary bicycle). Due to medications that I take, I cannot be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time (who was that calling me an albino?). Yes, excuses all.

I have begun to make better food choices. More leafy greens instead of rustling potato chips sacks. Trying to cut way back on the red meat that my family consumes. And I drink enough water every day. I can actually tell if I don't get enough water every day.

So, having said all that, I'm gonna go with exercise. Cause typing does not burn all that many calories. If it did, I would be the super model of the bunch cause I spend a lot of time doing exactly that.

This is Table Topic Thursday and if you want to play, please link up with Shannon over at Shannon's Nut House. You'll get a big kick out of her post, I promise.

Hello Monday.......goodbye weekend. Welcome daylight savings time. Goodbye eastern standard time. Hello extra hours of daylight in the evenings, goodbye driving to work in the daylight. I love this daylight savings time. I wish we would just leave it this way year round. I can't really see how we save electricity the other way, when it gets dark at 5:30 p.m. Oh well, I guess that is why they pay someone else big bucks to make that decision.
What do you like or dislike about the time change? Does your state even participate in this practice? I hope you all have a great week. Be blessed.

PLEASE, DON'T JUDGE ME TOO HARSHLY...

I have a confession to make. Hello, my name is Ouisa and I have a confession to make. (crickets chirping).

I have a new favorite television show. I have only been watching for two weeks now, but find myself in stitches for an hour each Thursday night. It's a sickness really. To find enjoyment from other people's woe is just wrong on so many levels.
Yet, I can't help but find myself attached to the television at it's time slot.
The premise of the show is that a couple that is having an "issue" will be shown telling what the problem is. Then a panel of celebrity judges will debate and give the "marriage ref"(Tom Papa) advice and then he makes a call either for the husband or wife. It is quite hilarious as at least one of the panelists is a comedian.
Does anyone else out there have this affinity for laughing at a married couple's problems? Is there help for me yet? Love to hear what you have to say.
I hope you all have a great weekend. Be blessed.

The topic for today is:
What is the perfect way to spend a rainy day?
Well, if you want the "R" rated version, it would be to spend the day sans kids, sans clothes, with hubby, making up for all the time we don't get to spend together.
The "G" version would be piled up on the couch with my kids watching movies and/or piled up reading a good book. A little snooze time, a lot of giggles and maybe some popcorn thrown in just for fun.
If you wanna play, go here to Shannon's blog and link u p.

Dear Inconsiderate Postal Patron.....

Yesterday, I had to go to the post office to purchase a roll of stamps.

I had to wait in line for the ONE postal clerk who was working (nevermind that there were ten people waiting in line).
Finally, I was next. I began to get that joyful feeling. I was almost home free. NOT!!!!!

The man in front of me had an express envelope filled out and ready to go. THEN, he hands the clerk a regular #10 envelop and says he wants that letter mailed express as well. The clerk hands him another express mailer and the form that had to be filled out in order to mail it.
Do you think he stepped out of the way while he was carving the address hierogliphically? NO!!!! He leans on the counter and settles in for a long winter's nap. Thanks buddy!!
Everyone have a great weekend.
