Okay, okay.....

I weinied out and went ahead and took her to the doctor. Viral infection. Nothing can be done but let it runs its course. Apparently there is an epidemic of this in school age children. Okay, so now I know. She has to stay home until she has been fever free for 24 hours. So, no school again tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by with all the advice. I just needed some validation I guess.
I was hoping for a miracle cure at the pediatricians office and we would come home and look like the mother and daughter in this picture. NOT.
I called the school and got her work sent home yesterday, so at least she won't be too far behind when she goes back.
Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and advice yesterday. I really do appreciate the time you all took to send those messages.

And on to other topics. We are having a cantata at church for Christmas and it is beautiful, beautiful. I have never been part of a choral experience before and I love it. I also found out that I am going to be singing a solo on Sunday morning (in both services). Okay, I know that doesn't sound like it would be much of a problem for me, but let's face some facts.

1. I am a rather large individual and it makes me self conscious when people are looking at me.

2. I sweat like a .....hmmm...what's somebody that gets real nervous? Well, I just pour sweat when I'm nervous and I'm afraid that I may have persperation running down my face before the song is over.

3. This is a big crowd. I know, in my heart, that I'm singing for the glorification of Jesus, but my human side just nearly freaks out.

4. I love to sing and I hope that Jesus will be glorified and that no one will laugh.
5. Oh, did I mention this is my first time in front of this big a group?

There, my insecurities laid bare for all the world to see.

I know some of you gals are singers and speakers and such, how do you all handle these situations?

I avoid public appearances at all costs so I don't have any advice on this one either!

It is better that you took her to the doctor and at least now you know what it is!

I hope all goes well for you. Just sing like you are in the shower. Everyone will love you.

I would love to get to hear you!!! Yep, I also sing and it took a while to get over the jitters, even though I did a lot of performances as a child (you would think that would have gotten me over it, but no!) However, I now just focus on the sounds, the music of it all and I try to really focus on the One I am singing to and always ask for the indwelling of the Spirit.

And try to ignore those pesky butterflies....

Hope everyone heals up quickly at your place!!

Blessings!

Don't they say to imagine the audience naked?

I guess that wouldn't really fly in a church.

During speech class in high school, a really nice guy taught me this trick. Right before you go out to sing, take a very deep breath, and then let it out slowly, like you're trying to make a candle flame flicker, not go out.

Works for me every time. Though I do try to avoid those situations as well!

Glad little one is on the mends.

Thanks for stopping by today - another can is going on the pile, thanks to you.

It is such a mixed feeling when the Dr. tells you it is "viral" isn't it? Part of me sighs a breath of relief that is isn't serious and then the other side is kicking myself for spending the co-payment and basically walking away where we began...hope it passes quickly...lots of water!

You will do amazing at your Cantata! I have sang lots of times on televised services (mostly in a small group; but occasionally soloing) The times I allowed myself to get caught up in what people might think I didn't do as well - you could hear that I was holding back. When I focused on singing for the Lord and went for it; it was so much better...(oh, the irony!) sing to the Lord and if you "glisten" (one of the ladies in my church used to tell me that ladies don't sweat; we glisten!) you will only shine for the Lord that much brighter! Sometimes the lights are so bright as well so you can't really even see the audience very well. I will pray that you will do amazing and that many will be blessed! Enjoy it!

My advice on the singing is to practice as much as you can in the venue where the service will be. Practice where you will be standing during your solo - I find there is a little "muscle memory" in that after you start, it feels like a very very good practice.

Let go, and let God.

Hope your baby feels better soon :)

You have an amazing voice that God gifted you with and I the first time I heard you sing, I was soooooo blessed. I'm only sad I won't be there to hear you. God will get the glory if that is your desire. Just take a deep breath and take your shoes off!!!!!! Can you do that at this church? I miss you!!!
