I am all for homeschooling. Check out www.homeschoolspot.com. There is a lot of info on there and you can ask some long time homeschoolers any question you want. :)

Hi!

My two cents? Do lots of research and talk to Moms who have done it. THEN you will at least make an informed decision. I know Moms who love it, but it's just not something I would be able to do. Good luck!!

We just completed our 6th year of homeschooling. We love it! But it *is* a lot of work. You have to be dedicated. If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me....... hsmamy@yahoo.com
Good luck on your decision!

We just completed our FIRST year of homeschooling, and we LOVE it. I truly love the flexibility, the fact that I know EXACTLY what my child is learning, and so many other positives. Before making the decision, you need to do some research and find out what type of program you want to use (secular or religious). Also, what type of homeschooler will you be (traditional textbook, unit studies, ecclectic, Charlotte Mason, etc). I've learned a lot by visiting www.homeschoolreviews.com There are some great curriculum reviews there, and everyone is truly helpful. I'm more than willing to answer any other questions. Just email me. :) Good luck with whatever you decide. :)

My son told me he wanted to be home-schooled about a week ago. I was trying to get to the bottom of WHY he was thinking he wanted to be and I believe he was a bit mis-led that he would have all this free time to just x-box and play more. Not that you don't have more time; but I think he is mostly just having "summer fever" and wanting to be done with school. We pray about it every year though. I think my son would do well with it; my daughter on the other hand...and I haven't wanted to have one in and one out - you still have the pressure of getting up, ready for school and out the door at a set time, all of the functions, etc. plus homeschooling...I'll be interested to read the comments here and hear what you decide in the end.

Ultimately, you have to have peace about it and be dedicated to make it really work. How does your homework time go between you & your kids?

I'm not a homeschooler but I know 2 people who are. And they both love it. One of them has 6 kids! (2 are not school age yet though)
I think I would like it, just not feasable for us.

I agree w/ Queenie Jeannie, I'm not qualified to give you any advise in the subject. I just know that it would not be for me.

Wow...I stood right where you are 6 years ago...never, and I mean never in my WILDEST dreams imagined this would be my calling....but it is. I'd tell you much of what you've heard here...PRAY, research and plan. I could give you a laundry list of things that work for us...it's a very personal decision....check out Heart of the Matter http://heartofthematteronline.com/

Loads of resources there....I know them well:)

pray and listen. I just knew it was right. I have a friend who did it for a year and chose to go back and others who are in for the long haul. Times have changed and opportunities are abundant.....

Peace....

Home schooled kids just seem to be missing out on so many activities. Unless you believe your kids would really benefit, keep sending them to school. You can always help with homework, etc, if you want to determine if they just need a little more help.
