I Know What Happened...

Yesterday, as I was sitting in the farm office with my daughter, she is happily coloring away and writing a story about ostriches and I am working on some invoices.......

She jumps up in her chair and begins to climb up on the desk using her very best scared voice calling "MOM". Well, of course that scares the you know what out of me and I yell back "WHAT is it?" She says, there is a rat over here. I immediately jumped up into my chair and freak out.

(Yeah, none of that be brave for the kiddies thing for me). So, as I am perched on my chair, I look out over to the corner to which she is urgently pointing and I see it. A RAT.....A RAT.....A RAT....well, it was really a mouse, but to me it was A RAT!!!!!!! I don't care how small or cutesy they are they are still RATS, VERMIN....YIKES!!!!!

So I call my dear hubs on the phone and tell him that I need him urgently at the office. He calmly replies I'll be right there. Well, after about a minute, the RAT moved in the sticky trap. And my daughter and I nearly went beserk. I called dear hubs back on the phone and said, WE NEED YOU HERE NOW, COME ON!!! To which he calmly replied, I'm on my way.

Okay, you need to understand that I am coming unglued. In my adult, rational mind, I know that the small animal is not going to get on me, but try telling that to my irrational, scared out of my gourd of small, squeaky animals mind. To her, it is A RAT, A RAT, A RAT..!!!!!!!!

Anyway, hubs took care of it and my daughter and I went on with our activities of the hour.

This is not my first encounter with the little creatures since we moved over here and when I was volunteering at the high school two weeks ago, I ran screaming from an office through the front office of the school because of A RAT under a desk.

So, I was entering data on the computer at the farm office and this latest episode happened. It got me to wondering why the world has so many RATS nowadays. And just like lightning it hit me..............

Whatever happened to the fundraiser the kids used to have to send a mouse to college? I sent a ton of those little suckers to school when I was growing up (does that tell you all how old I am?).

Because back then, we didn't know that we were sending them off to a laboratory to be ill used and abused, did we? I gleefully went around the neighborhood begging pennies and nickels off the neighbors. I'd send fifteen or twenty off each fundraising period and I was all gung ho and stuff.

Of course, I realize now that I was not politcally correct. But you know, there sure were a lot less RATS back then.

Y'all have a great weekend. Be blessed.

A Foodie ..... or not?

In response to a post by Octamom, I have to say a few things.

First, finicky eater does not even begin to describe what I am. Or two of my three children.
If it is something that I am not accustomed to, forget it. Until.........................

Recently, I discovered that I was a hipocrit?(spelling). I would make my children try things they professed to not like, but I, myself, would fly under the radar so I wouldn't have to.

Since our move in June, I have gotten much better about eating things that I professed to not like. And I have found, to my chagrin, that there are some awesome things out there that I have been missing out on. Don't go getting me wrong, I'm still a finicky eater, but I now try things before I say I don't like them. And mainly, it is textures that do me in. Of course, taste matters, but if something doesn't "feel" right, I will say YUCK faster than you can blink an eye.

So, go visit Octamom and read her post on eating preferences.

P.S. Thanks Octamom for giving me something to post about today.

Well, I bet all two of my followers have been wondering where I have been (not really, but let's just pretend, okay?).

I just finished reading a book by Suzanne Collins called "The Hunger Games". Seriously, if you haven't read this book, you need to run on down to the local library and check it out. I could hardly believe how well written this book is. And what moralistic dilemmas these folks face. It was a great read and I definitely recommend it to anyone.

On to other tidbits, my son had his second session with a well known educational enhancement center that rhymes with Tillthen. He seems to like going and they are definitely doing him some good. So we will continue on at least until the summer anyway and probably more likely into November. I have high hopes for their academic enrichment curriculum.

Anyone else out there had any experiences with this kind of thing?

We had a wonderful trip......

Hey everybody, we are back from our camping trip. And it was wonderful. We had a day of warm weather, with a night of chilling temperatures that made sitting around a campfire a delight. And then we had a day of not so warm weather, but it was still a gorgeous time.
We went to Manatee Springs State Park and I have to tell you the wildlife there was incredible.
We were sitting around the fire one morning and three deer walked into the campsite adjoining us. It was incredible. I have a picture, but I can't get it to download because my internet connection sucks, but, it was beautiful.
We saw manatees in the river. And for the first time in a long time, I was able to walk about 1/2 mile. That was a treat for me.
We camped with a friend of my husband's from his work and his family. It was so much fun. Our children are similar in age and they had a ball and played together like they had known each other forever.
We are planning on camping with them again around Spring Break time.

I hope you all enjoyed your Valentines' Day weekends and enjoyed any treats that you may have gotten.

Last chance for Becky in the Trenches to contact me about her prize from winning my contest. If I don't hear from her today, the prize will have to be given to someone else.

Have a great day, and an even better week.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.................................

And the winner is.........

Becky in the Trenches. Yepper, that's right. Becky in the Trenches has won my 100th blog contest. Out of the whopping eight people that entered, she was the lucky one pulled by my daughter.

Yeah, I used the old fashioned method of cutting up the names and putting them in a bowl and then had my beautiful little girl pull one out.

So, Becky, please send me your mailing information and the prize will be on it's way to you.

Hope you all are having a great week.

What is the dumbest thing you've ever done?

Let me tell you about this new product I found. (It's what I get for looking at those magazines for every company under the sun).

The ad for it was breathtaking.....could it really be possible....no more shaving with nicks and cuts and sloppy nasty shaving cream.....could I have smooth, silky legs? Finally, I had found the product of my dreams.

I went on line and ordered not one, but four of these fabulous, miracle working soft as velvet hair removal mittens. Where I could remove all unwanted nannygoat facial hair and leg hair with just the smallest effort and I would have silky smooth results with no pain whatsoever AND the hair would be slow to grow back.

Okay, after three weeks of waiting with bated breath, my supply arrives via the USPS (may God bless their ever price increasing hearts). I ripped into the plastic and pulled one of my new miraculous hair removers out of the package. I giggled. I actually giggled in anticipation of having a hair free upper lip and chin. I was so excited I almost peed my pants.

Then I rubbed it ever so gently on my lower leg in a circular motion and VIOLA! I was hair free in a small area and it was so smooth. It kind of looked like I had the ash really badly, but hey, there was no pain and I was loving it.

So I took another one out of the package to use on my chin and upper lip. Cause I can't be getting no leg hair cooties on my face, you see.

I rubbed on my upper lip ever so gently and HOLY MOTHER OF .......... The reason that the facial hair doesn't grow back for a long time, is because there is no skin left. I was in such pain that I felt like kicking the door post barefooted just to take my mind off my face. What a load of crap.
I looked at the inside of this thing and it was a fine, super fine sand paper. I was sand papering my face. Geesh!!!

So, moral of the story. My face is just gonna have to be hairy, but my legs will look fine.

I hope y'all have a great weekend.

Only 10 more shopping days till Valentine's Day.

Are you going to get your honey something chocolate, something Craftsman, something with red hearts on it that only he can wear, or something lacy only you should wear?

What are your plans? Gimme some ideas here, okay?

On to other things, don't forget to leave a comment in order to enter my giveaway. I will announce the winner on Tuesday, February 10th.

My DH and I are discussing beginning a couples devotion. Do any of you have any suggestions for a good program or devotional book that we should try?

Thanks for all the answers, I'm looking forward to hearing from you all.

HOORAY! HOORAY! I FINALLY MADE IT TO.......................................................................

100 POSTS

Well, I finally made the 100 mark. It doesn't seem like it has taken all that long to get here. I'm thinking in the neighborhood of six months or so....

As promised, I am now hosting a giveaway to celebrate my 100th blog.

I will be giving away one wall hanging for a family tree. This wall hanging has plastic folders along the limbs to put pictures of your family in. See the picture (please excuse the mess in the background, but that's pretty much as clean as it gets on this desk).

This is it. There might even be some chocolate involved if enough people enter.
So, I'm glad I have found this outlet for my vents and to get to "know" some people from all over this big ball we call the world.
Can't wait to celebrate my 200th blog.
Okay, to enter: Leave a comment on this post. Good for one entry.
Follow me. Good for one entry. (Make sure you come back and tell me you are following).
That's it. You can only get two entries (not because I'm selfish, but because I don't know how to Tweeter and all that other stuff).
Contest ends Monday, Feb. 9th and I will announce the winner on Tuesday, Feb. 10th.
Good night and good luck.
