Another Day In Paradise

I just wanted to share someone with you. If you have not already done so, stop by www. melissabotley.blogspot.com or better known as Another Day in Paradise. She is playful and funny and will certainly make you think deep thoughts (some days). She is a mother of three beautiful children making her way one day at a time and has some pretty good insights along the way. I've posted one of my favorites below, stop on by and see her, she'd love to hear from you.

Bunny Hugger
Most of you don't know my husband from anyone, but a bunny hugger he is not. He can hunt deer with the best of 'em. He must be getting soft in his old age. He runs in the morning and made a furry discovery on his travels today. I took the kids to school this morning and went grocery shopping. I arrived home to find this on top of my REFRIGERATOR!

Can I just tell you how disturbing this is on so many levels? Notice the purple bin that was formerly used for toys and now has the carcass of a bunny. On top of the refrigerator. Where I am going to unload our food. That we eat. Anyone coming for dinner tonight?
***Update on the bunny for the inquiring minds. The bunny has perished. My husband, in his best efforts, tried to rescue Thumper (that's what we'll call him). He fed it water through a syringe in an attempt to hydrate the little guy, but to no avail. He now rests in peace in our backyard. Thank you for your concern and no, my husband did not just put a dead bunny on top of our refrigerator. He thought it may have a chance to survive. He was well intentioned.

Addicted, what a shame!

Do not go out and play a game called "JEWEL QUEST". This is the most addictive game I have ever played. I even forget to blog because I'm seriously stuck in this game. It's like reading the Twilight books kind of addicting. YIKES!!!
My housework is suffering (I've only done ten loads of laundry instead of twenty). That kind of lose track of time and go to bed after 1 am addicting.
But, after having said all that, it's also a very fun, make me nervous wreck kind of game. And I love it.

Hey everybody,

First, let me get some business out of the way.....go on over to www.therfamilydiaries.blogspot.com she is having a giveaway contest.
And not only do you get a chance at a $100 gift card, but you get to read some hilarious blogs too.

Now, that being said. I hope I win. Not that I'm destitute, but my three children just started back to school and for some reason, there are tons of people standing around with their hands held out just waiting for me to drop some cash in it......like the little one started gymnastics..cha ching that will be 65 dollars for the first month and 45 dollars a month until you run out of money. Plus the 200 dollars for the clothes that little one MUST wear.

Then middle one wants to play middle school football. Got to go out and buy a pair of cleats cha ching that will be 40 dollars please. Then he decides that he isn't big enough and the middle school coach will make him be a benchwarmer. And now he wants to play midget football. That will be 40 dollars for the enrollment fee.

The oldest one hasn't found his niche yet, but I'll bet it's going to be expensive.

And that's not including all the clothes and supplies that we had to buy just so they would take them at the school. Did I say take? I didn't mean that in a bad way. It's a public school, they would have had to take them anyway, I just didn't want them not to have paper and pencils.

Does anyone else have this kind of problem? Don't get me wrong, we are extremely blessed to have the opportunities that we do, but sometimes I feel like we're bleeding cash and it won't stop.

Yep, I'm done. Have a great afternoon

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head

Rain, rain, go away, come back some other day........

It has been raining now for three days. Schools closed early yesterday and did not even open today. I have been trapped here in this house (except for the time I had to go grocery shopping) and then I was trapped in Wallyworld and spent almost 200 dollars. I'm not sure, but I think I saw a man with a water hose on the top of the store.

So, with Thing 1 and Thing 2, I decided to wait it out in the lobby of this wonderful shopping experience.....got tired of it after 5 minutes, put up my multi-colored umbrella and literally blew across the parking lot. Lots of fun to see a woman shaped like Madea flying across the parking lot. All I could do was hang on to my umbrella and holler "Get out of the way" "I can't stop it"
I almost flattened a woman and her child, I hollered, "Jesus just saved your life, Hallelujer".

I will be glad when this bidness is over with. My do just ain't up to all this humidity.

Oh, did I tell y'all I finally went and got the pedicure my DH got me for my birthday? Well, it was quite the experience. My nails are now polished in a shade of "I'm really not a waitress red" I don't understand that name, but it shure is a pretty red color. Something old Flo from Mel's diner,,,,,,oh wait a minute, I get it now..........

Hope you all are staying dry.

Easy as 1-2-3 Chicken

I was just over at SITS (www.thesecretisinthesauce.blogspot.com )and there is a recipe contest going on and I thought I would post my own original version of Easy as 1-2-3 Chicken. This recipe is really great if you don't have a lot of time. Prep work is extremely easy and it's soooo delicious, your family will rave about it.

Okay, first you get in your car and drive to the nearest KFC (or other suitable chicken establishment).

Second, you purchase a bucket (or basket or box) of the appropriate amount of chicken you would like.

Third, pay for it and drive it on home.

TIP : Make sure you put it on your own platter and sprinkle a little flour around the stove top to make your family think you worked really hard at creating this culinary delight.

See, easy as 1-2-3.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!!!!!
You guessed it, school is officially open. I got my dear little ones off to school this morning with no crying and no fussing. If you can believe it, I was in a traffic jam in our little one light town.
This town is soooooooo about its kids and their schools. This morning three deputy sheriffs escorted the entire senior class of about 400 kids from a private residence where they had the Senior breakfast to the high school (four miles from here). I thought that was great. Let's get em out there for everyone to see and pump up. It surely made them feel special and I think it was great.

Also, my little cousin had me a pretty little baby boy yesterday. I say little, she says "Little my foot". He was 8 lbs 12 oz. 22 inches long and is the most beautiful thing I've seen since my grand neice was born last year.

I can hardly wait for her to bring him to see me. I love to smell his little ole head and count his toes and play piggy.

Oh well, I hope everyone has a great day.

Thankful Thursday

Okay, I was surfing around today and went to momdot.com. And I wanted to participate in Thankful Thursday.
There began the problem. I just have so very much to be thankful for.
For every inch of rain we have gotten this week, I'm thankful.
For each of my children, I'm thankful.
For my DH, I'm thankful.
For having the most hilarious, loyal group of blogging friends, I'm thankful.

So if I didn't do this correctly, please forgive me and somebody leave me a comment on how to do this correctly.

Sassafrass

Okay, we live on a farm with cattle and hay operations. A couple of weeks ago, my cousin found a tiny baby squirrel that had fallen from it's nest waaaaaaaaay up in a pine tree. We tried for several hours unsuccessfully to get it back to it's mom. But to no avail. So, he decided to nurse it until it was old enough to be let loose. Enter the sucker.
Unfortunately, he had to leave to go to summer camp. Guess who got the squirrel to take care of? Right you are.
So, we've been feeding and caring for this squirrel for several weeks and all of a sudden, she is bonkers. So, DH decides that it is time to set her free. So, Saturday evening, we take her outside and place her on a tree and go back in side the house. (I am sitting in a chair with the blinds open so I can keep an "eye" on her. (Oh, did I mention that my kids named her Sassafrass?) Didn't think so.
Well, I sit and play the games on the computer and keep an "eye" out the window to keep track of her. She stayed in that tree all night Saturday. When I came home from church Sunday afternoon. She scrambled out of the tree. Ran past all three kids (who were just cooing and calling her) and up my arm she scrambled making cute little squirrel noises and such.
I melted. I'm such a sucker.
Long story short, (not really), I went and bought more replacement milk for her. Because we can't go in or out of our house without her stalking us. It is hilarious. HURRY UP AND CLOSE THAT DOOR. RUN........DON"T YOU LET HER BACK IN THIS HOUSE.......just a wonderful belly laugh for all concerned.
But we didn't get too attached or anything. Yeah, right!!!!

Madea or Not Madea

Hey y'all,

I watched Madea's Family Reunion last night. And it is so seldom that you have a good movie without a lot of trash in it. Now, I'm not saying there aren't moments, but I absolutely love Tyler Perry/Madea.
Being herself and spouting out wisdom that will last through the ages is this hilarious woman, (who looks a lot like me by the way). For Halloween, I am just gonna put on an outrageously colored frock and put on a grey wig and glasses and start hollering, Hallaluyer, Jesus just saved your life. Or she fine honey, she just playing grit ball.

Heller, this is hot Georger. She just cracks me up. I liked Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and Why Did I get Married. I haven't seen Daddy's Girls or Meet the Browns yet, but I'm sure that they are just as hilarious as the ones I have seen.

I just got finished watching Madea goes to jail. Another good funny movie with some valuable life lessons in them.

Any of you all like them? What was your favorite part?

Never Trust Them.......

Yesterday, I forgot the cardinal rule of being a mother of three.......Never trust them....don't turn your back on them.

Okay, I used to drive a really nice vehicle. A beautiful Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The most beautiful shade of blue you could hope for. I kept that baby squeaky clean. No trash in the floor, no dust on the dashboard. Man, it was smokin'.

Fast forward fourteen years and three kids later. It is just something that I have had to let go. A messy, nasty ride. The grocery getter. If I had a rocking chair tied to the top, I could win the best Redneck ride ever.

So, yesterday, I lost it. I opened the back door of my mini=van and trash spilled out onto the ground. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't stand it one more minute. I grabbed my 12 (excuse me, almost 13 year old) son and headed down to the friendly neighborhood car wash and vacuum place. Then spent a good twenty minutes sweating and fussing about all the twelve pounds of dried up french fries I found between the back seat the and wall of the car. YUCK...... I could have filled a recycle box with all the trash that came out of that back area. Stink? Oh, don't even get me started. I found a half eaten box of chicken nuggets in the bottom of the overflowing trash can. Apparently, they had gotten wet at some point and we were definitely trying to win a science award for growing cultures in the garbage.

So, I'm all proud of this nice, clean van. I could just cry it looked so good. And then it happened, I think it was the heat that did it..........my son says, "Mom, look here, it's one of them fragrance machines". And because I was gagging over the smell of those rotten chicken nuggets, I said to myself, "Self, I bet the car would smell soooooooooo good. Ooooh, they have a baby powder scented spray. Who doesn't love baby powder???? I'm no communist, I love the smell of a freshly diapered infant and the smell of their heads, is just wonderful. But I digress,

I dug four of my hard earned quarters out of my pocket and ching, ching, ching, ching, in they went. And this nozzle from H -E- double hockey sticks starts spraying this fragrance.
Now the instructions are 4 quarters for 40 seconds of spray. AND that you should spray under the back of the front seats of the vehicle. I was ready to stop spraying at 3 seconds. But, in these hard economic times, I really couldn't justify wasting 37 seconds of sprayed fragrance, could I?

The smell was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loud. We had to drive with the windows down. When I got out at home, my head was throbbing...It was a mistake and I was so sorry. BUT, not as sorry as I was today. Yikesarama. That is some strong stuff.

Okay, I am chuckling as I read this because when my 6 year old daughter got in the car today, she wrinkled her pretty little nose and said, "Mom, did you spray bug spray in here or did you just toot?"

Don't trust them.......and never turn your back on them.

In the wee small hours of the morning

Hello everyone, what? Why am I whispering? It's after midnight and everyone else is asleep.

Okay, so I really don't care if everyone else is asleep, but I am tryin' to be nice. Ole Ouisa does have some redeeming qualities.

Okay, I have always been a country girl. Born and raised in a very small town and lived in an outlying community that was even smaller. And recently we relocated to DH's youthful stomping grounds. Let's just say that I'm having a little bit of trouble adjusting to how quiet this place is at night......No, let me rephrase that. The dadgum crickets won't shut up around here. I can hear them over the fan that I bought to drown out that sound.

Good news though, my mama and my daddy came to visit me today and are spending the night with us. I just love my mama. I miss not being right down the road from her. All she has to do is move on over here, I'm just sayin'.

We all went shopping together today and then we took them out to dinner at the Texas Roadhouse this evening. Might I say, that the eats is good there.

I know that when they leave to go back home tomorrow I will be sad, but I will see them one day next week when I go to pick up the child that they are carrying home with them.

My little ole cousin is fixin to have a baby in about two weeks......its her first one and she has caught the gestational diabetis. So, this kid is gonna be a whopper probably. I called her today and the OBGYN told her he was already over 8 lbs. YIKES!!!!!!! And she still has two weeks to go before her due date.

I am trying a new strategy with my middle child. Each time he gets angry about something that we have said or done, I am just going to say to him, I love you. Come give mama some love. And see if that works on turning his little showdowns around.

I'll keep you posted on how that's going.

Hey did you all notice that I finally figured out how to put the Secret is in the Sauce logo on here. And my tunes? It was all thanks to karin at 6byhisdesign and her wonderful tips. Shout out to her, YOU ROCK. Thanks. I appreciate the help.
